Betico Group began with Miguel Carrera Munita in the city of Eibar, where he started out making mechanical saws and compressors in a small workshop. As demand grew he moved into a larger factory and set his sights higher, manufacturing the first Betico four-stroke diesel motor using the company's own technology. His ambition was simple but serious: to innovate in engine manufacturing rather than just keep pace with it.

Growing Into Power

In its early years the company concentrated on small engines for machinery, generators, and equipment, the kind of dependable units that quietly do the work no one notices. Through the 1960s and 1970s Betico shifted its production toward larger and more powerful engines, a move that opened the doors to the marine and automotive markets and established the brand as a serious player beyond its origins.

A Commitment to R&D

The 1980s marked a turning point as Betico began pouring resources into its research and development department. The result was a generation of more fuel-efficient, more environmentally responsible engines with refined designs. By the 1990s the company was expanding internationally, opening sales offices and factories across North America, Europe, and Asia, and forming strategic partnerships that broadened its expertise and product range.

Looking Forward

Today Betico directs much of its research toward sustainable powertrains, exploring hybrid and electric engines alongside the digitalisation of vehicles and the integration of smart, connected technologies.
